Glenda Mills is a CPA, CA and CFO with 30 years of financial and operational leadership experience with public and private firms in technology, telecom, voice over internet protocol (VOIP), software, professional services, strategic sourcing, management consulting firms, food services and health insurance, as well as experience with public accounting.

She has been fortunate to enjoy a non-classical finance career that has included a wide variety of experience and exposure. Glenda has gained a specialized proficiency in detailed financial assessments of operations and solutions implementation. She has achieved professional growth through responsibility for strategic planning, accounting, finance, product management, marketing, sales, information systems, operations, legal and HR, providing a well rounded thorough understanding of all aspects of business.

Over the past 30 years she has been utilizing operations and financial expertise gained in building mid-sized businesses through organic growth and acquisition. She has a long record of reducing costs and streamlining operations in a wide range of situations, through analysis of models, cultivation of necessary data, drilling down into the cost structure underlying the delivery and support of products and either seeking more cost effective alternatives/processes, eliminating revenue and cost leakage or enhancing sales distribution channels.

She is skilled in all areas of operations including profit enhancement and operational efficiency in the areas of product delivery, back office systems / functions, IS, engineering, provisioning and customer care. Working with each of these functions, she has utilized financial skills to hone in on operational challenges and to find solutions achieving substantial profitability improvement.

She has designed and implemented processes, controls and systems necessary to start and/or maintain the growth of several complex technology companies operating in various states and countries. She directed the strategic and financial planning to manage the growth and continued evolution of these companies.

Prior to forming Growth Management Strategies, Glenda held President, CFO, Controller and senior Finance and Operations positions for mid-sized, start up and publicly traded companies including Cbeyond Communications, Premiere Global Services, Procuri and Reignmaker Communications.

Selected Achievements

  • Raised $10M in private equity financing. Raised $10M in venture capital funding.
  • Managed cash shortfall to maintain company operations for 1.5 years though reorganization, fund raising, negotiation of bridge loans, renegotiation of debt, management of vendors and utilization of banking relationships.
  • Turned around a poorly performing, ineffective finance organization, re-implemented their JD Edwards accounting software, integrated an acquisition, engineered the software integration and automation plan and reduced annual headcount costs by $1.5M annually by streamlining and improving operations and restructuring workload.
  • Designed and implemented processes, controls and systems necessary to start and/or maintain the growth from $0 to $36M run rate in 1.5 years and $20 to $75M in 2 years. Provided the strategic and financial planning to manage this growth.
  • Extensive modeling resulted in re-engineering of product platform to support products more cost effectively, creating greater profitability and price competitiveness.
  • Standardized products and prices to streamline sales, billing and support and led the integration of accounting, products, pricing and back office systems of acquired companies, collapsing 80 billing and customer service centers with disparate systems into one.
  • Identified and eliminated cost leakage, improving gross margin by 10%-15%.
  • Implemented indirect agent sales strategy, maintaining production with 78% smaller sales force.
